In 1981 Dewdown House was acquired by The Salvation Army Housing Association, the old building was demolished & the present purpose designed building erected. Salvation Army Social Services are responsible for the management. There is accommodation for 40 men & women, in single bedrooms. Each room has a wash hand basin, emergency call buzzer & TV point. A range of activities are offered including sing-a-longs, armchair aerobics & handicraft sessions. Outings are arranged during the year, & there is an in-house hairdressing salon, & shop.
