Mobility component is normally paid 4 weekly combined with other benefits and paid to people with severe walking difficulties and other mobility problems. It is tax free and does not usually affect any other allowance you may be getting. It is not means-tested. Approval to receive this allowance may help you to get other benefits as well. You must be over 5yrs old and under 65yrs when you QUALIFY for the allowance. The lower age changed to 3 yrs from 9th April 2001.
