The DRC Helpline provides information and advice about all aspects of the Disability Discrimination Act, as well as signposting specialist organisations where necessary. In addition, it can offer good practice on the employment of disabled people.
DARAS and the DDA Helpline have amalgamated with the Disability Rights Commission to provide a combined service. The DRC has been set up to promote civil rights for disabled people. Working in partnership with existing bodies, its functions include:-
- providing a source of advice on the rights of disabled people;
- helping to secure rights and eliminate discrimination;
- promoting equal opportunities;
- promoting good practice and working effectively with business, the public and voluntary sectors;
- advising on the operation of the DDA;
- promoting concilliation in cases of dispute;
