Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is defined as an illness or disorder which is triggered by an emotionally distressing event which is outside the range of normal human experience. Post Traumatic Stress is no respecter of age, sex or culture, and can affect anyone at any time. ASSIST supports individuals and their families / carers as they come to terms with the effect that PTSD has on their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
ASSIST is a registered charity providing support to individuals and families affected by traumatic experiences to an extent that prevents them going about their normal daily lives. The service offers telephone counselling and support, specialising in PTSD.
They also provide training and information relating to trauma.
