Comment: | Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (GWAS) was created as a result of a merger between Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Ambulance Services. Currently GWAS provides two core services:
+ accident and emergency (phone 999);
+ patient transport; this is for NHS patients who need transport for various reasons. It can be booked, following an assessment of need, by NHS healthcare professionals ONLY, and cannot be booked directly by patients themselves. Advanced ambulance transport bookings (for patients in Gloucestershire) via Patient Transport Services (PTS) on 01452-753087are for people needing to attend appointments, and there is a separate phone number (0845-120-6342) for urgent on-day ambulance transportation. |
