Comment: | NHS South West is one of the ten new Strategic Health Authorities in England. Formed on 1st. July 2006, the new organisation replaces the three old Strategic Health Authorities (Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire; Dorset and Somerset; and the South West Peninsula).
NHS South West oversees the largest region in England stretching from Lands End to Tewkesbury, with a total population of over five million. The organisation is responsible for ensuring that NHS patients in the region secure the best services, care and treatment. It will also lead huge reforms, with the NHS delivering new and more modern services, ensuring that patients are treated in different ways, such as in their own homes or in modern community facilities. |
