Comment: | If you are or have been a carer, family member or friend of a person who has been confused or had dementia, or if you suffer from memory loss or dementia yourself, you may find it helpful to talk to someone about your thoughts, feelings, or concerns.
Dementia Care Trust operates a specialist counselling service, offering a supportive and confidential environment in which you can talk about your life and experiences at whatever depth you feel comfortable, and without being judged or criticised. They usually provide counselling in your own home, but they can arrange appointments elsewhere if you prefer.
Counselling involves:
+ a private, confidential meeting between the counsellor and you;
+ being listened to supportively;
+ a developing relationship based on acceptance, respect and trust;
+ exploring areas that cause you fifficulty or distress;
+ finding new ways of understanding yourself;
+ supporting you in finding ways to support yourself better. |
