Comment:

Gloucestershire Elective Home Education Service works as part of the Children and Young People's Services to improve opportunities for all children and young people. Every child has a right to an education that is suitable to his/her age, ability and aptitude. Parents have the right to educate their children at home rather than by regular attendance at a school.
Gloucestershire Local Authority recognises the right of parents to take responsibility for the education of their child/children under the Education Act (1996), in accordance with their own specific beliefs, approaches and needs.
Home Visitors will contact home educating families when they register, to offer appropriate advice and support in setting up, where necessary, and in maintaining progress for the child.
