Comment: | The National Autistic Society is developing Out of-School Clubs for children and young people with Asperger Syndrome and high functioning autism. The clubs, supported by a Project Leader and volunteers, provide a safe environment for the children / young people to develop friendships, try new activities and have fun.
The clubs run early evening one night a week with separate activities organised for the school holidays. There is a timetable of activities planned each week, and children and young people are supported to take part and socialise. A room for parents to meet is also provided as well as some support for brothers and sisters.
There will be a total of thirteen clubs across the South West. There are currently two clubs in Bath and there are clubs in Bristol (every Monday), South Gloucestershire (every Thursday), Cheltenham (social club for over sixteens - once a month on Thursdays) and North Somerset (Tuesdays). New clubs will start soon in Cheltenham, Bristol, Somerset and Plymouth.
Contact the Development Co-ordinator for more information, and for details of new clubs as they open. |
