Comment: | Lechlade has a number of parochial charities to provide care for needy local people. The principle groups of charities are:
The Clementson Trust - provides assistance to the needy sick of Lechlade, Southrop and Eastleach;
The Educational Charity - provides grants for the education of young people in Lechlade;
Lechlade Parochial Charities - comprises several charities, with various aims including providing food at Christmas, winter fuel, small annual sums of noney to the 'poor of Lechlade'.
The qualifying terms are: recipients must be residents of the ecclesiastical parish town and surrounds of Lechlade, or for the Clementson Trust, Lechlade, Southrop and Eastleach and must be in genuine need. Grants are usually only made to cover costs that cannot be met from other sources.
