The purpose of Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Travel Advice Unit is to provide information to British travellers and British citizens resident overseas. The advice is designed to help British travellers and citizens to take their own decisions about their travel plans. It deliberately focuses on the potential risks and problems involved in travel overseas. Via its website, www.fco.gov.uk/countryadvice the Travel Advice Unit offers travel advice on over two hundred countries, country-specific Travellers' Tips, and links to travel advice of foreign governments.
It also gives a brief summary of the terrorist threat world-wide, and what help FCO Travel Advice can provide in warning of the dangers.
You can select the country you are travelling to from a drop-down menu. If a particular country is not included in the list of Travel Advice notices this is because the FCO has no information on the country at the present time.
