Comment:

The Expert Patients Programme (EPP) is an NHS Government initiative. It aims to help people with a long term medical condition - such as diabetes, Parkinson's, Lupus, epilepsy, ME, arthritis, fybromyalgia, heart disease, or any other long term health condition - maintain their health and improve their quality of life through self management courses. The courses are run by people who have a chronic condition themselves and have been trained under the Expert Patients Programme, supported by qualified trainers.
The Chronic Disease Self Management Course involves attending one session per week for six weeks. Each session lasts for two and a half hours (with a break). There are discussions, freethinking sessions and brief explanations. Participants share experiences and support each other. The course will introduce you to relaxation and help you decide on an exercise programme, and enable you to practise techniques to distract you from your symptoms.
