The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation [JDRF] exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. It was founded in 1970 by a small group of parents of children with diabetes. JDRF aims to fund excellence in research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of diabetes and its complications. It also aims to provide public education for individuals and families living with insulin-dependent diabetes, to explain to them the latest research findings which will help them live lives less severely impacted by diabetes.
