Mohamed Ginwalla and Gill Glover are the Welfare Benefits Take-up Officers with Gloucester City Council. Gill works particularly with people over sixty years of age (Tel. 01452-396971). Their role is to promote welfare benefits to Gloucester City residents and to increase income levels in the City. They raise awareness of benefits through the local media, leaflets, posters and newsletters, and presentations to groups. Free and confidential benefit health checks are available for Gloucester City residents - during which they work through all the benefits concerned and help to fill out application forms if requested. They are able to make home visits.
The benefits they can help with are:
+ Housing / Council Tax Benefit;
+ Pension Credit (Gill);
+ Disability Living Allowance (DLA)(Mohamed);
+ Attendance Allowance (AA)(Gill);
+ DLA for children under 16 (Mohamed);
+ Tax Credits;
+ Benefit Health Checks.
An outreach Benefits Advice Surgery is held, in partnership with the local Pension Service, every Thursday afternoons between 1:30 and 4:00pm at The Trust Centre, Conduit Street, Gloucester.
