Comment: | The Fostering Recruitment Team are involved with the recruitment and assessment of carers throughout the County. They are particularly keen to recruit carers who reside in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud. Short term, long term and respite carers are needed for children between up to sixteen years old and sibling groups. They are also seeking carers who can offer a home to children with disabilities on a short or long term basis.
There are a number of children between eight and fourteen years of age who require a long term home until they are able to live independently.
For carers who wish to make a long term commitment to children the Department's first option is to secure a placement with a Residence Order, supported by an allowance. Some children will need to be placed with carers where skills are acknowledged by a fee and an allowance. Fees range from £80.00 to £160.00 per week. There is also a specialist scheme, the 'New Directions' fostering scheme, aimed at providing short term care to support children with complex needs. New Direction foster carers receive an annual fostering fee of £22,000.00, mostly tax free, and a maintenance allowance depending on the age of the child / young person. |
