Organisation:Family Matters

Comment:

Family matters offers counselling and a helpline facility to children and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault.
Their aim is to relieve the mental and physical distress felt by survivors of childhood sexual abuse, to break that cycle of abuse and to reduce the incidence of suicide and self-harm amongst survivors. They can help people change and grow through self-discovery and self-healing to find new ways of thinking and acting in place of old harmful learned behaviours.
They offer a Helpline, and a free, confidential, one-to-one counselling service in low cost, by the hour rooms to offer venues across South East London and the majority of Kent, with a counsellor who is specifically trained in sexual abuse awareness and its presenting problems. These venues, together with their counsellors, give a safe, non-judgemental explorative space in which clients can share in confidence their thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are affecting their lives.
The helpline covers the whole of the United Kingdom.
