CHIPS -ChildLine in Partnership with Schools - is a ChildLine initiative, run by Lindsay Gilbert from ChildLine's headquarters in London. You can contact the CHIPS office with any general queries about the programme on 020-7650-3230 or via e-mail. In Scotland, please contact the Training and Outreach team on 0870-336-2910. There are also CHIPS workers at counselling centres around the UK - see the website for contact details.
CHIPS provides an outreach service to young people in schools and youth groups and has brought ChildLine into direct contact with over a thousand UK schools. CHIPS endorses the view that children and young people can play a part in making changes to improve their own lives, can help each other and have a right to be listened to and respected. CHIPS develops a working relationship with young people and their schools or youth groups. Services offered include:
direct work in schools or youth groups by ChildLine staff, such as assembly presentations or workshops on bullying;
supporting schools to set up peer support projects in their schools;
information about issues that affect young people;
resources such as leaflets and factsheets;
conferences, reports and published articles.
