Organisation:Library Services for Older People

Comment:

As well the Home delivery and Visually Impaired Persons Library services (see separate records), Gloucestershire County Library Service has a range of services aimed at helping older people. Some of these services are not available in all the County's thirty nine libraries, but your local library will be able to give you full information about them, and where they can be found.
Library Clubs (see separate record) are monthly social groups for housebound older people with community transport provided to and from the library, and a chance to get out and about, meet others socially, choose books and participate in any special activities.
All libraries have publicly accessible computers - a completely free service. No previous experience is needed, as staff will guide you and give you as much support as you need. If you have a visual impairment, a number of aids and adaptations are available.
For more information, or to ask about becoming a volunteer, please ask at your local library.
