Sound Sense - the Voice of Community Music - incorporates the National Music and Disability Information Service (see separate record). It advocates music as key to the development of emotional and social well-being in individuals, groups and whole communities. It provides an advice line for professionals and groups working in this field, and produces magazines, newsletters and research papers on all aspects of participatory music-making. It campaigns central and local government and funding bodies on the importance of music in society.
