Comment:

Gloucester and Distrct Alzheimer's Society was launched in 1997 and holds regular support group meetings. It has an Information Line and a Luncheon Club (see separate record). Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month - 2:00 to 4:00pm. People with any form of dementia and their families or Carers are welcome to attend. Ann Carter is the Support Worker and is happy to deal with enquiries about Alzheimer's Disease or any form of dementia, and the problems arising for people caring for someone with the condition.
They have a small resource library of books and videos, which can be borrowed. There is a monthly Pub Grub Club (last Tuesday of the month, 11:30am to 1:30pm, at the Gloucestershire Club, Greville Close, Sandhurst Lane in Gloucester). They do outreach work, and will visit people at home, and now also have a Befriending Scheme Co-ordinator to develop and manage a scheme for carers of people with dementia (see separare record).
