Comment: | This department provides the main twenty four hour emergency service for Gloucester, the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire south to Berkeley. It is part of the countywide emergency network along with the other major emergency department based at Cheltenham General Hospital and the minor injuries units located in the community hospitals throughout the county.
The department cares for patients with acute medical and surgical problems as well as people with a wide range of acute injuries. It is supported by truama and resuscitation teams along with a full diagnostic service. It works in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Ambulance service, NHS Direct and the local primary care services. It also offers a bereavement service for those who suffer the sudden loss of family or friends. |
