Comment: | The David Lewis Centre for Epilepsy provides a unique range of services for adults and children with complicated epilepsy. Services include:
+ The David Lewis School - a small specialist school for pupils aged seven to nineteen, whose neurological impairment is their primary difficulty;
+ a childrens epilepsy outreach assessment service - offers a holistic, multidisciplinary service with experienced professionals working alongside or training local services;
+ The David Lewis College - for young people aged sixteen to twenty five with complex epilepsy and related neurological conditions;
+ an adult social care service - nine residential houses for those with epilepsy and learning difficulties;
+ a residential behaviour service - the Richard Miller Unit provides assessment and care for those with epilepsy and associated disorders, including challenging behaviours, and including some patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983);
+ an adult assessment unit - a small specialist unit for adults from eighteen to sixty five;
+ a residential high dependency unit - Frederick Harwood House offers the highest level of nursing care, with a senior nurse always on duty and a direct line to a named doctor at all times. |
