The Association for the Study of Obesity is an inter-disciplinary organisation of scientists, medical and health professionals working to further the knowledge about obesity in the UK. Their aims are:
+ to promote and disseminate research into the causes, prevention and treatment of obesity;
+ to educate and provide opinion leadership on issues relating to obesity;
+ to encourage action to reduce obesity prevalence and the treatment of obesity.
UK meetings are held three times a year, when specialists within the field of obesity are invited to speak. The International Journal of Obesity is published monthly and contains details of future meetings and other information of interest. It is available to Association members at a reduced price. The Association is affiliated to the International and European Associations for the Study of Obesity.
