Comment: | The Telephone Helplines Association is a membership umbrella organisation, working with helplines providing a service in social, welfare and helpline. They have a range of services; training courses on helplines skills, consultancy and publications. The Telephone Helplines Directory is a unique source of information about helplines in the UK. The directory gives details on over eleven hundred national, regional and local helplines throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Helplines listed deal with a range of issues, including: health, disability, mental health, children and young people, carers, rape and sexual abuse, lesbians and gay men, drugs and alcohol, HIV and AIDS, family and parents, legal and civil rights. There is also a section on other useful organisations, a geographical index, a subject index and an alphabetical index.
