Comment: | The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is an ecumenical charity that is predominantly a Roman Catholic membership society. It takes an active part in social work through work such as visits to older people, people who are sick or lonely, holidays for needy families etc. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul helps the needy, regardless of colour, creed or ethnic origin.
The work of the Society and its volunteer members is based on person-to-person contact with those in need. They are not, at national level, a funding organisation; any assistance that may be available depends entirely on the financial resources, often limited, of local volunteer groups. There are over thirteen hundred such groups, throughout England and Wales, but they do not cover all areas.
To progress a request they need contact details - address, phone number etc. - to enable their volunteer to arrange a visit. It is preferable that there is an indication that the family or individual would welcome their approach. |
