Comment: | Newent Association for the Disabled was founded to fulfill a need to enable physically disabled and frail older people to meet and socialise. It was opened officially in 1982 by HRH Princess Anne. The Association comprises a Day Centre (Sheppard House) and a transport service (Newent Dial-a-Ride) - see separate records - a charity shop at 8-10 Church Street, Newent (phone 01531-828060) and a one-stop information shop at 18 Church Street (phone 01531-821466). The Association also now offers assisted / therapeutic bathing. |
