BAP promotes the knowledge and skills of psychotherapy and the education and training of psychotherapists. Training includes child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy training, external courses and postgraduate work for qualified people. BAP provides a clinical service for adults, adolescents and children seeking psychotherapeutic help for personal problems. BAP also organises regular meetings for members and conferences and seminars for the public. Reduced Fee Scheme-from £6 - £20 per session with commitment to three sessions per week for two years. The BAP headquarters is in London, but the BAP has qualified members countrywide. Total membership is around 450.
The Clinical Service offers a preliminary assessment, and will then, if appropriate, try to place people with a suitably qualified working practitioner in their area.
