Severn Trent's Vulnerable Household Charge Scheme is intended to help customers who pay for their water charges via a water meter and are experiencing payment difficulties as a result of high water usage for essential purposes. The charge is capped at the average bill for a household customer - £269.00 for 2005 / 2006.
To qualify, the following criteria must apply to your household:
+ your property must be billed by water meter;
+ your combined annual water and sewerage charges must exceed £269.00 (in 2005 / 6);
+ you must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit;
+ the person in receipt of the benefit must be responsible for three children under nineteen who are permanently resident in the household OR a member of the household must be suffering from a medical condition, such as incontinence or Crohn's Disease, which requires a significant additional amount of water to be used.
