Comment: | Fathers Direct is the UK's national information centre on fatherhood which aims to create a society that gives all children a strong and positive relationship with their fathers, supports co-operative parenting and supports both men and women as both carers and earners.
Currently they have six programmes:
developing a new national information resource for fathers, with 'Dad Club' as its working title;
raising public awareness about the role of fatherhood in children's lives;
proposing changes to the law to support the expanding role of men in caring for children;
providing practical support to children's services and schools to engage with fathers as their caring role expands;
promoting workplaces that support equitable sharing of breadwinning and caring responsibilities;
extending the work internationally, in partnership with UNICEF.
If you are a parent or grandparent asking for personal advice, unfortunately they do not run an advice line, but they recommend ParentLine Plus on 0808-800-2222 or Families Need Fathers on 0870-760-7496 (see seperate records). |
