Comment:

Refuge (in partnership with Women's Aid Federation of England) offers a twenty four hour National Domestic Violence Helpline (freephone from land lines, but not free from mobiles), offering support, information and advice to women and their children experiencing domestic violence including, where appropriate, referral to a refuge. Refuge provides specialist accommodation and support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. They run a growing network of refuges and support services.
They provide a children's programme where trained psychologists work with the children to overcome the trauma of witnessing or experiencing domestic violence.
They also provide group and individual counselling services for women, and an outreach programme to support women from black and minority ethnic communities, who may have difficulties accessing mainstream support and information.
