Acorns Children's Hospice Trust (see separate record) is a registered charity, established in 1983, offering a network of care to life-limited children and support for their families across the heart of England. Acorns Hospice in Walsall is a ten bedded, purpose built children's hospice which offers comfort and support, liaison with health, social and education services and a place for the child to stay occasionally so parents can have a break. Acorns is for families with a child who has a life limiting illness and is not expected to reach adulthood. Youngsters are accepted into the care of Acorns from within the West Midlands region (including Gloucestershire). A community team support children and families in the family's own home. The hospice also has a family care suite, and three bedrooms for families to stay.
