Stickler syndrome is a genetic progressive condition which affects the bodys collagen (connective tissue). Recent research has shown that a defective gene called COL2A1 on chromosome 12 is a cause in some patients and investigations are continuing into other candidate genes. The Support Group offers:
information and support for people affected by Stickler syndrome, and for professionals;
leaflets and booklets about different aspects of Stickler syndrome
a medical professionals' booklet:
a booklet for teachers;
a booklet for the seven to twelve year old with the condition;
bi-annual conference for members and professionals and a quarterly Newsletter.
