Organisation:Disability and Carers' Service

Comment:

Part of the Disability Carers' Service, this Centre deals with initial applications for AA and DLA within its geographical area. The Midlands service covers Walsall, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, plus West Midlands and Rutland. Once a final decision has been made the DBC will continue to deal with payments, changes in circumstances, reconsider requests and appeals for three months. After this time the claim will be transferred to the Disability Contact Processing Unit (DCPU) at Blackpool (Helpline 08457-123456) who will deal with any further aspects.
Details of a claim can only be discussed with the claimant unless special circumstances exist such as Power of Attourney, or if the claimant has an authorised advocate. For further information about benefits, see also www.direct.gov.uk.
