Comment: | Doucecroft School, run by the Essex Autistic Society (see separate record) is a school for children aged three to sixteen. After twenty eight years in Kelvedon the school has relocated to bigger premises in Eight Ash Green on the outskirts of Colchester.
The school provides a specialised quality service, tailored to meet the unique and complex needs of each individual child at the school. The school also has a department of Further Education, still in Kelvedon, for young people aged sixteen to nineteen. The department focuses on developing each students potential by providing an individual tailored, and student-centred curriculum, incorporating appropriate practical activities. The school caters for a maximum of sixty four children, comprising of both day pupils and weekly boarders. Boarding capacity is currently limited to thirty four pupils but this will increase to forty eight once two further boarding houses have been built.
Doucecroft is approved by the DfES and The National Care Standards Commission and is a member of the Autism Services Accreditation Programme. |
