Comment:

The BEAMA (British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers' Association) Foundation was established by the Federation of British Electro-technical and Allied Manufacturers, Association and the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR). The foundations funds are provided by the industry.
The object of the Foundation is to assist disabled people through the provision of specialised electrically operated equipment and apparatus. This is done by means of grants to facilitate the purchase of equipment and apparatus, or by contributing to the funds of similar agencies.
The Foundation will not normally provide funds for equipment or apparatus which should be provided by the NHS. Because the funds are limited, normally the maximum grant is £250.00.
The Foundation does not have the resources to make home visits, so all applications must come via recognised social workers, occupational therapists or other appropriate professionals, who must sign it, and include their assessment of needs and equipment suitability.
