Comment: | The National Kidney Federation (NKF) represents the interests of all kidney patients, both present and future, throughout the UK. They are the only UK charity that has the mandate to represent the interests of patients. The charity is run by patients, for patients, and comprises approximately sixty five Kidney Patients' Associations throughout the UK.
The charity is involved in representing patients' interests to government and the media. They campaign for more and better treatment facilities, and encourage the public to look upon organ donation positively. The NKF also provides support services for the forty thousand UK kidney patients and their carers.
The Federation operates the National Kidney Patients' Helpline (local call rates apply) and over two hundred pages of information can be read or downloaded from the website, which also hosts a patients' bulletin board so that patients may contact one another.
The NKF has produced a range of educational materials and magazines, and organises conferences and workshops. |
