This unit is a detoxification centre, for both drugs and alcohol, for thirteen males and six females with rehabilitative after care provided by referring agency. It is a medical unit with twenty four hour nursing and medical cover, new admissions taken between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Detoxification is provided, as well as counselling, support and advice. Group meetings, encouragement for ongoing treatment, and recreational facilities are also provided. This unit is run by the Salvation Army offering one to one counselling, and self help groups are part of the programme which aims for total abstinence.
The unit also provides alternative therapies and an after care social group, on discharge.
