SAHA was originally established in 1959 for the purpose of providing accommodation for retired Salvation Army officers. This proposal only partially materialised and instead, the organisation concentrated upon the provision of housing for single people within a supported setting. There are now more than forty residential centres that have principally been provided as a result of The Salvation Army transferring the land/buildings to SAHA at nil cost, which we then convert or develop into a new centre. The Salvation Army has also made capital donations to ensure the schemes break even. The Salvation Army is subsequently contracted by SAHA to provide the care and support in the residential centres. Their aim is to provide a high quality standard of housing and management, giving good value to satisfied customers.
