Comment: | At Lydney Early Years Centre they believe that the early years are uniquely important and precious time of a childs life. They aim to continue the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development already begun at home.
The children have a fully integrated early years curriculum following the Foundation Stage as recommended by the Department of Education. The main focus of learning is through play.
They follow the Reggio Emilia experience, which promotes the right of the child to choose, make connections and communicate. They provide regular observation and assessment, ensuring experiences offered match the needs of the child. Through this policy, they have developed integration of special needs and community children, endeavouring to send the majority of special needs children to mainstream education.
There is close liaison with Lydney C. of E. School, developing a joint early years policy, and ensuring progression and continuity for children going there.
