Comment:

Healthy Start, which was rolled out across Great Britain in November 2006, replaced the Department of Health Welfare Food Scheme. Healthy Start provides vouchers that have a monetary value and can be used to purchase milk, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables or infant formula milk from participating retailers. Healthy Start is available to all pregnant women under the age of eighteen, and for children up to their fourth birthday providing they meet the entitlement requirements. Healthy Start will also provide access to free vitamins.
For information about the Nursery milk for registered childminders, nurseries, playgroups, etc, see separate record.
