Comment:

The Veterans Agency (VA) (previously the War Pensions Agency) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). It is the point of contact within the MoD for providing information and advice to veterans and their families.
The VA also administers the new Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS). For serving HM Forces personnel this replaces the War Pensions scheme for injuries or health problems whose cause arises on or after 6/4/05 (causes prior to then remain under the War Pension scheme).
Death in service (or after leaving the Forces, if the cause was due to service and arose on or after 6/4/05) dependants (including partners) will be covered by the AFCS. War Widow(er)s Pensions will continue where the cause of the death arose prior to 6/4/05.
The Agency administers these schemes and provides welfare support to War Pensioners and War Widow(er)s. It is also responsible for the management of the Ilford Park Polish home (a care home for ex-Polish forces who fought with the UK in WWII).
