The Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad (MASTA) gives advice and information on health matters for anyone travelling abroad. Call the Travellers' Healthline on 0906-550-1402 leaving details of your journey and you will be sent a printed health brief by return of post. The brief includes details about immunisations, malaria, seasonal diseases and the latest health news for your journey. MASTA maintain a computerised database of information on eighty four diseases and health hazards in over two hundred and fifty countries. The database is kept constantly up to date and is used to provide individual health briefs by matching countries to be visited, living conditions abroad and dates of travel.
MASTA also provides a range of travel health items (eg insect repellents, mosquito nets, sterile equipment kits etc), which can be obtained by calling 0113-238-7575. The Healthline is a BT premium rate line. Calls are charged at 60p per minute.
