Comment: | Edwin Francis Gyde's legacy funded, among other things, an orphanage, and when there was no further use for the building as an orphanage the Charity Commission gave permission for the sale of the property. Upon the sale, a new Charitable Trust was established, and the Gyde Charity was formed. The objects of the new charity took into account the wishes of Mr. Gyde and are to promote the education and the relief of those who are:
1. in need, hardship or distress, or
2. are either blind or deaf or dumb or partially blind, deaf and dumb, and
3. under the age of twenty five.
The Trustees may relieve persons in need by making grants of money, or by providing or paying for goods, services or facilities to those in need. There are som e further conditions that have to be fulfilled, but anyone knowing of a need in Gloucestershire should contact the Clerk to the Trustees. |
