Comment: | The Dark Horse Venture is for people aged fifty years and over. Its aim is to offer an overall framework for the development of interests, enthusiasms, and involvement in new activities, all of which are totally non-competitive. These activities fall into four categories. An individual has to select an activity they have not tried before and become involved in it for twelve months. Dark Horse Certificates will be awarded on the basis of progress and performance for each activity.
Inside-Out is an expansion of the award scheme, and has brought more information of the ways people can support others in the charitable world and voluntary sector. Anyone taking part in Inside-Out for twelve months or more will qualify for The Dark Horse Venture award. It is a scheme which can be done from home or with others. It could be a very useful plan for Activities Leaders or Craft Therapists in establishments where older people live or attend, and can include people who are restricted by health or mobility problems. |
