Organisation:National Blood Service

Comment:

The National Blood Service, part of NHS Blood and Transplant, is an integral part of the NHS, and delivers blood, blood components, blood products and tissues from sixteen blood centres to anywhere in England and North Wales.
They ensure that the blood supplied is properly screened and is safe for patients. Every year they collect, test, process, store and issue 2.5 million blood donations. They depend entirely on voluntary donations from the general public, and try to encourage existing donors to give three times a year.
The internet gives you a list of the sixteen regional blood centres, with phone numbers. It's so easy to save a life - just show up at a blood donor session, sit back and share a pint! Use the website to search for your nearest session, or you can fill in the online form for more information. Or call them on: 0845-7-711-711.
