| Organisation: | Community Support Services |
Comment: | Run by Cheltenham Community Projects, this is a preventative project that offers any statutory or voluntary agency the opportunity to offer support to families with children where there is a risk of breaking down due to particular stressful situations or difficulty in coping with everyday family life. Non statutory intervention is available when a child's behaviour at home or school is presenting a difficulty. The emphasis is upon responding to what the family feels will benefit them most.
Any agency or professional may refer families. The family must be living in Cheltenham, have at least one child aged up to sixteen and have agreed to intervention. They will in certain circumstances work with YP's up to twenty five years - please phone to discuss before referring. They offer time-limited support (six to twelve weeks) and work with the parent(s) / carer(s) and / or the child(ren), addressing individual needs and those of the family unit. They work in the family home, school environment or community setting offering practical and emotional support with an aim of promoting good enough parenting. A co-ordinated approach liaising closely with other agencies and networking to provide the best service is promoted. |
