Comment: | Community Foster Care is a voluntary independent foster care agency, established to provide professional foster care for Looked After Children. It is a registered charity, and a not-for-profits community business. Potential foster carers are targeted from Gloucestershire, including socially and economically disadvantaged areas. There are many benefits to this, including: bringing regeneration to the region, and keeping children in their familiar environments.
Foster Carers are selected through a rigorous process - home visits and interviews are carried out and checks are made, including Criminal Records Bureau, medical and reference checks. There is then an intensive eighteen-hour training course, covering all aspects of fostering. When they have completed it, and the Community Foster Care team is satisfied they are suitable, an assessment is completed using an independent assessor.
Foster Carers are supported by an assigned Family Support Worker and also receive a wide range of support and help from the Community Foster Care Team, such as:
+ twenty four hour support, seven days a week;
+ weekly contact with the Family Support Worker. |
