The United Nations Association (UNA) was established in 1945 subsequent to the League of Nations Union. It promotes awareness and support for the UN in conflict avoidance and resolution, peacekeeping (the famous Blue Helmets), economic and social development, emergency relief at sites of disasters and conflict, environmental research and protection, human rights. The UNA has influence in politics, with the Church, trade unions and industry. It is also an educational body, working with schools and colleges.
