Comment: | Established in 1983, MDF - The Bipolar Organisation is a national user-led organisation and registered charity for people whose lives are affected by manic depression. MDF aims to enable people affected by manic depression (bi-polar) to take control of their lives through the services that we offer members. These include:
+ MDF self help groups;
+ information and publications;
+ employment advice;
+ the MDF Self Management Training Programme (STEADY - see separate record);
+ a 24-hour Legal Advice Line for employment, legal, benefits and debt issues;
+ travel insurance scheme;
+ life assurance.
They also work to provide new services, which reflect the members' needs, and seek to combat the stigma and prejudice experienced by those affected by manic depression.
