Comment: | The Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (CPPIH) was set up in January 2003. It is an independent, non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department of Health.
The Commission's role is to make sure the public is involved in decision making about health and health services in England. There are over four hundred Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forums, one for each NHS Trust in England and they are putting into practice improved health which will only come through continuous engagement of people and communities.
PPI Forums are made up of groups of volunteers in local communities who are enthusiastic about helping patients and members of the public to influence the way that local healthcare is organised and delivered. If you'd like to find out more about CPPIH or how to become a member of a Patient and Public Involvement Forum, please contact them direct.
There are also regional centres in: Birmingham, Cambridge, Exeter, Guildford, Leeds, London, Newcastle, Nottingham and Warrington - for details see the website. |
